Liveware Publishing Y2K Expansion Begins

Preparation for New Releases Includes New Facilities and Increased Staff

January 3, 2000 -- Liveware Publishing today announced the first phase of an expansion plan designed to position the software developer for new releases of its core products, R&R Report Writer and ARPEGGIO Information Publisher.  The comprehensive plan includes new corporate headquarters and additional staff in all areas.  This expansion will position the company to better serve its customers with more frequent, and higher quality product updates and expanded technical services.

The expansion plan comes on the heels of a strong fourth quarter in 1999.  Dan Levin, President of Liveware Publishing explains, "With the successful transition of R&R Report Writer and ARPEGGIO products and support  to Liveware Publishing behind us, we are now forward focused on meeting customer demand for upgraded and enhanced products.  Stronger than expected sales during the fourth quarter gives us the opportunity to invest aggressively in our vision of making report writing accessible to a wider end user audience."

Some of the changes taking place include a new corporate headquarters facility in Claymont, Delaware.  This office also houses the professional services staff and serves as the warehousing and distribution center for R&R Report Writer and ARPEGGIO products.  One of the most visible achievements from the operations staff is new streamlined product packaging incorporating on-line documentation with DVD style storage.  Professional services staff will soon release a second volume of the popular book series, Relate & Report, covering advanced reporting topics.  In addition, the Major Accounts team is busy working with OEMS and VARs to develop new programs.

Meanwhile, at the Maynard, MA development facility, the expansion plan has resulted in new development and QA staff, and a significant investment in additional test equipment.  According to Rob Hershfield, General Manager, "After lengthy discussions with customers about their reporting issues and concerns, we have aligned our development team with customer priorities.  Our first upgrade will be announced during Q1 and will address the major issues plaguing users of the products when Liveware Publishing took over development.  I am confident we will meet the expectations of customers who are longing for a more knowledgeable and responsive caretaker for the products they depend on to run their businesses."

Following the Q1 release of upgrades to the R&R Report Writer and ARPEGGIO products, a second phase of the expansion plan will be unveiled.  Preliminary discussions are focusing on significant development and marketing investments to restore R&R Report Writer to the market dominance it enjoyed from the 1980s through the mid 1990s.  Customer input is being sought in conjunction with the planning process, and feedback may be sent via email to the planning team.
